Description:
Cologne Cathedral with the curved roofs of the Museum Ludwig, the Modern Art Museum (BUSMANN & HABERER, 1986) in front and to the left of it. The main railway station, Hauptbahnhof, is to the right of the Cathedral with the blue roof of a concert/exhibition venue nearer the river. In the central distance is the Colonius telecommunication tower (1981). Photographed from the top of the KölnTriangle, an office block with a public observation plaform on its roof. In the lower foreground is the Hohenzollernbrücke, a major railway and pedestrian bridge over the River Rhine. Since the early 21st century people have attached engraved padlocks to the bridge as a mark of their affection for one another. When the railway company wished to remove them the city prevented this as the locks have become a cultural tradition and a major tourist attraction. The bridge was completely reconstructed after WW2.
