Description:
Major railway and pedestrian bridge over the River Rhine. Since the early 21st century people have attached engraved padlocks to the bridge as a mark of their affection for one another. When the railway company wished to remove them the city prevented this as the locks have become a cultural tradition and a major tourist attraction. The bridge was completely reconstructed after WW2. In this view can also be seen Cologne Cathedral with the curved roofs of the Museum Ludwig, the Modern Art Museum (BUSMANN & HABERER, 1986) in front and to the left of it. The main railway station, Hauprbahnhof, is to the right of the Cathedral with the blue roof of a concert/exhibition venue nearer the river. In the central distance is the Colonius telecommunication tower (1981)
