Description:
Leda and the Swan. General view of the sculpture displayed on a marble top table in one of the main galleries. When this work was first exhibited at the 1898 Salon, the figure of Leda was made from ivory. At the 1900 Paris Exposition Universelle, where Lever bought the piece, the figure was marble. Segar OWEN was the son of William OWEN. The Gallery is a Grade II listed building founded by William Hesketh Lever, the first Lord Leverhulme, the Sunlight soap magnate.
