Detail of Mike DISLEY's carving lettering on the Central Library Building, Tudor Square and Surrey Street.
It reads: CENTRAL LIBRARY AND GRAVES ART GALLERY. This was one of additional activites used to promote the Stone City Symposium in Sheffield. The Stone City Symposium (19 June and 16 July 1995). Five sculptors carved five sculptures from stone on site at the Victoria Quays. The pieces were subsequently sited at five different locations in Sheffield. Financial and other support was given by the Sports and Arts Foundation, Yorkshire and Humberside Arts, Sheffield Hallam University, Sheffield City Council and Yorkshire Artspace Society. Materials were provided by Realstone. |
