View of corner of Cathedral with the sculpture 'The Annunciation'.
Location: St Marie's Cathedral, at the corner of Norfolk Row and Norfolk Street, S1. Beneath this piece is the external door to the parish rooms and sacristy. Description: The scene of the annuciation is shown within a deeply carved and highly arched niche. The Cathedral (including this relief) was restored and re-opened in 2014. Commission: not known About the artist: Thomas Earp (active between 1860 and 1880) was also the sculptor for the Eleanor Cross erected outside Charing Cross Station, London, in 1865. |
