Exterior view: Statue on plinth. Robert Stephenson (1803 - 1859), the son of the railway pioneer George Stephenson, was himself a railway engineer and designer. A friend and colleague of Barnsley's Joseph Locke, who followed the same profession and whose statue, also by Baron MAROCHETTI, can be seen in Locke Park, Barnsley < http://shimmer.shu.ac.uk/luna/servlet/s/43i33z > . Location: outside Euston Station. Unveiled in 1871.
