View of exhibited work. Photographer's statement: "Imagery from the media is exposed to individuals subconsciously everyday through magazines, newspapers, television and advertisements. My photographic work explores the mindsets of women and how they compare themselves to fashion and beauty images that are visible throughout the media. Taking in-depth research into this topic has lead me to realise that women, more than men are dissatisfied with their body image and appearance. This photomontage work aims to create distorted illusions, mixing images found in magazines with real life. This helps women to understand that they are being misled and convinced into thinking the images from the media are natural. Using the same photograph of the model throughout my work enables you to see how her expressions can completely change depending what facial features are put in place."
