Detail. page of book. Photographer's statement: "VIVA is a photographic documentation of the city of Las Vegas, Nevada, USA, and the culture of nostalgia and tourism. A city that invests in the future of the entertainment industry with hi-tech casino resorts hosting million dollar concerts and events, yet embraces the yesteryears to sell t-shirts and souvenirs to passing tourists. A Disneyland constructed for adults. Presented here are a series of photographs depicting the vivid landscape of The Strip and the characters that populate it both fictitious creations from popular culture, and celebrities alive or dead. Consistent throughout the series is the Elvis Presley legacy that has persisted throughout Las Vegas culture, from impersonators on The Strip, and the commodification of his image to sell souvenir trinkets."
