Detail of sculpture sited inside the church. Location: Church of Our Lady and St Thomas, Meadowhead, Sheffield. Description: A seated woman holding a child with a globe in its hands. The sculpture has been painted. Inscription: On base of the statue: 'J.B 1968' Dimensions: 135 cm high x 60cm diameter. Commission: No details. John Bunting (1927-2002) was for 40 years drawing master or art master at Ampleforth College in North Yorkshire, where much of his work can be seen. It is not known how he was selected to make this piece which originally stood in St Bernard's RC Comprehensive School, Rotherham. It was brought to the church in Meadowhead when the school no longer wanted to have it on display.
