Description:
|
Exterior view: The roof of the Readerships and Literary Cultures Collection Area. This collection of popular fiction is designed to support research into the formation of literary tastes. It contains early editions of out-of-print novels that were significant to readers during the period 1900-1950 either because they sold well or because the names of their authors were widely recognised and had come to represent the tastes of a particular readership. The specific focus of this collection is on books that might be called "middlebrow" rather than of special literary merit. It can be found on level 2 of Adsetts Learning Centre and is reference only - there is a reading area alongside the collection.
