Description:
|
Exterior view: West End. Building work was interrupted by the 2nd World War and recommenced in 1947. The Cathedral was consecrated in 1981 and the final parts of the building: Western Porches (the Garths), the Sacristy, the Lady Chapel, the Chapter House and The Tower were not completed till 1966. The non-standard bricks forming the buildings exterior were made near the site from clay dug out of the hill on which the cathedral stands.
