Exterior detail: facade elements. The inscription on top of each facade reads: UN POPOLO DI POETI DI ARTISTI DI EROI / DI SANTI DI PENSATORI DI SCIENZIATI / DI NAVIGATORI DI TRASMIGRATORI. This can be translated as 'A population of poets, of artists, of heroes / of saints, of philosophers, or scientists / of sailors, of explorers'. Location: E.U.R. (Esposizione Universale Roma), Rome. The area was developed for the 1942 World Fair - although the 2nd World War prevented this event from taking place. The building is also known as 'The Square Colosseum'. The facade has six rows, each of nine arches: Benito Mussolini's first name has six letters, his second has nine. There is an equestrian sculptural group at each corner of the building.
