Description:
|
Exterior view: Queen Elizabeth Hall - left - foreground (GLC - Department of Architecture & Civic Design, 1967). Hayward Gallery - centre - middleground (GLC - Department of Architecture & Civic Design, 1968). The triangular shapes on the roofs are skylights for the individual galleries. Royal Festival Hall - left - foreground - rear of building just visible ( MARTIN, Leslie ; MORRO, Peter ; LONDON CITY COUNCIL - Department of Architecture & Civic Design, 1951). This is part of The South Bank Arts Centre, now called the Southbank Centre. The Royal Festival Hall (1951) was built for The Festival of Britain - the other elements, the Queen Elizabeth Hall and the Purcell Room (built in 1967), and the final building was the Hayward Gallery (1968).
