Description:
One of the digital images submitted by Dan Bentley. Text accompanying the show reads: "Counterpoint is a multi-media study into 'people-scapes', showcasing an alternative approach to the relationship between sound and vision. Each musical note represents one of the subjects in the corresponding photograph. The form of each subject is used to guide the writing and setting of the musical structure. / So often the way we navigate around one another is dictated by our surroundings, whereas open spaces lift these constraints. These habitual patterns are deeply embedded in human behaviour, typically when around strangers, whereas our personal comfort and security take priority. / By reducing the appearance of depth, each subject is perceived differently without its location being altered. The outcome of this editing is not only the likeness of traditional sheet music, but also the accentuation of the decisive pattern within each 'people-scape'." Location: in the Gallery in the Furnival Building.
