Description:
|
Interior detail: Text accompanying the show reads: "Hana's practice plays around with language and meaning, addressing socio-political issues of contemporary society. / This conceptual piece focuses on the use of cultural codes by marketing companies to influence and steer social identity. In post-modern culture, lifestyles are a key element of influencing self-identity. / Featuring photographic constructions that claim a new lifestyle comes with the purchase of of a product, in this installation, the messages of advertising are subverted, to highlight to the viewer the ways they are manipulated to consume. / Each spectator can only experience the installation alone. The aggressive/oppressive environment amplifies meaning to make the spectator feel overwhelmed and overloaded. The porportions of the booth are specific. The images, the sounds and the light will be an intruder on the personal space of the spectator; in the same way, advertising is an intruder in all areas of our life." Location: in the Gallery in the Furnival Building.
