Description:
General view: Text accompanying the show reads: "Inspired by my experiences growing up in a small rural community of outstanding beauty, immense character and spirit, reflected in both the landscape and the people, my work examines the intrinsic relationship between humans and our surroundings, documenting a portrait of Nidderdale that celebrates the timeless nature of the landscape itself. More than 200 years of mining and quarrying and thousands of generations of farm work have left evidence of peoples past exploitations of the dale creating the socially historical landscape we see today. Glorious moors were once forests and the dividing of land by drystone walls dates back to the 17th century. Thus creating an ever evolving patchwork, each boundary reflecting the structure of society and social barriers even within community." Location: in the Gallery in the Furnival Building.
