View of the sculpture on the outside of the building. Location: St Marie's Cathedral, at the corner of Norfolk Row and Norfolk Street, S1. Beneath this piece is the external door to the parish rooms and sacristy. Description: The scene of the annuciation is shown within a deeply carved and highly arched niche. Commission: not known Comment: A favourite resting place for pigeons. [this is the left half of stereo pair of images - the right half has the Image ID: 00-4123] About the artist: Thomas Earp (active between 1860 and 1880) was also the sculptor for the Eleanor Cross erected outside Charing Cross Station, London, in 1865.
