A view looking across Pond Street at a number of buildings since demolished. From left to right: Norfolk Flats (skyline left) were demolished c. 1995. ; Sheffield Midland Railway Station (just visible beneath them) ; (foreground left) Sheffield Bus Station which was redesigned and rebuilt in 1991. Centre (middleground) : the Eric Mensforth Building - recently opened here as the new Library. (On the skyline area are a number of further high rise buildings which have been demolished). Immediately behind the Eric Mensforth Building is the Student Union Building (demolished in the early 21st century) and behind that the much taller Dyson House (demolished in the late 1990's). On the extreme right of the picture is the corner of the Howard Building and in the foreground a section of the roof of The Tiers (both belonging to Sheffield City Polytechnic ; the latter was demolished and replaced with the Adsetts Building).
