Exterior detail: pedestrian court. Harlow New Town was created after World War II as part of orbital developments around London to provide housing for the overcrowded city. GIBBERD dersigned the masterplan for Harlow New Town in 1947. The town had both the first residential tower-block and the first pedestrian precinct in Britain.
