Description:
|
Exterior view: the open air section of the house. Originally built to house gorillas. These are now housed in a new facility that opened in 2007. This house has been used for a variety of apes, monkeys and other animals over the years. The London Zoo website comments that "The Round House is circular so that a half-drum shaped screen could be slid from within one half of it to enclose the other in cold weather, as a protection for the gorillas it was built to house."
