Description:
|
Location: The corner of Poultry and Queen Victoria Streets. The previous building on this site was the London headquarters of Mappin & Webb - silversmiths and jewellers, and formerly cutlery manufacturers. The firm was originally founded in Sheffield. These buildings were controversially demolished in 1994 and redeveloped by Peter Palumbo with designs by James STIRLING. STIRLING died suddenly in 1992 before building had begun and the plans were finalised and the project completed by Michael WILFORD. The building houses offices, shops and restaurants and sits on top of Bank Underground Station. [see annotations to this image for links to Mappin & Webb building]
