Interior view: view from upper tier of main stand looking across the stadium to the hill and Olympic Flame at the east end of the Stadium. Floodlighting towers. It was designed by Sheffield City Council's Design & Building Services and built by RM Douglas Construction. Structural engineers were YRM-Anthony Hunt Associates of Sheffield. The complex opened in 1990, ready for the 1991 World Student Games, and was part of a redevelopment plan for the Lower Don Valley incorporating the Stadium, the Don Valley Bowl and Arena.
