Description:
|
Location: Newton Street. Five portrait heads of different sizes based on Francis Chantrey's bust of James Watt, a resident of Birmingham, in Birmingham City Museum and Art Gallery. Each head is progressively less finished as its size increases. Each head has the same proportions and this alludes to the polygliptic machines used to enlarge sculptures which Watt developed in his later life.
