View of the plinth above and the statue of Attwood, which has apparantly abandoned its place on the plinth, reclining on steps beneath. Attwood was one of Birmingham's first two MP's and a prominent agitator for Parliamentary reforms. The monument in Chamberlain Square consists of a lifesize sculpture of Attwood reclining, feather quill in hand on steps in the Square. He is studying a paper on which the words: Prosperity Restored are written. Other loose papers are scattered above the steps and on a small plinth, apparantly abandoned by Attwood's statue. These read: Demand for Change ; The Remedy ; Votes For All ; Full Employment ; Free Trade. Inscriptions in the stone of the steps read: Prosperity ; The Vote ; Reform .
