Description:

One of the panels. Portrait of a child with their aspirations for later life. Location: The Exchange, Commercial Street, S1 Description: Black and white painted boards infilling the windows at ground level of this fine building. Each painting depicts the face of a child with the professions that they would choose for themselves, written in a facsimile of their own handwriting underneath it. The children came from various schools in the city. The project formed part of Donnelly's final year Degree Show work while a Fine Art student at Sheffield Hallam University. Commission: Self-generated. The artist negotiated with English Partnership, owners of the building. Comment: The building is scheduled for renovation. This piece will remain here until building work commences. Update October 1999: Renovation has now started and the panels have been removed.
