Location: Sackville Gardens. View of memorial. Turing, a victim of homophobic prejudice, died after taking a bite from an apple poisoned with cyanide. The back of bench has Turing name and dates plus a motto encoded by the wartime German 'Enigma' code. A plaque in paving reads: " .. 1912-1954 / Father of Computer Science / Mathematician, Logician / Wartime Codebreaker / Victim of Prejudice .."
