Memorial tablet to David Daniel Davis

Location: Paradise Square, Sheffield S1 (A-Z p.5 2E) Description: Green sandstone tablet, 41 cm wide; 56 cm high. Above an inscription there is a shallow cut relief of a head, presumably that of Davis. The inscription reads: "1778 1841 / DAVID DANIEL DAVIS / PHYSICIAN / Lived in this house 1803-1812 / Translated Pinel's Treatise on Insanity / Assisted at the birth of Queen Victoria" Commission: details not known Comment: The stone is the same as that used for the Wesley Memorial Plaque. Possibly the plaque was installed at about the same time (1951).
