Description:
|
Sign used on United Reformed Church. Location: Chapel Walk, Sheffield, S1. This is the pedestrian street between Fargate and Norfolk Street. Description: The spandrel at each end of this narrow pedestrian street. This consists of an arch containing the name 'Chapel Walk' supported by a three diamensional crown shape containing a leaf-like motif. He also designed the brackets from which each shop has its own individual sign. Each sign is an oval of the same size, suspended by chains from a bracket. Commission: Initiated by Sheffield City Council. Funding from the European Union, the national 'Transport Project Programme' and the private sector. Comment: The shops signs are particularly successful in giving the street a unified, and yet unique, appearance.
